Chapatti Upma

Ingredients

Left over chapattis 7-8
Onion 1, finely chopped
Green chillies 3-4, chopped
Carrot 1, grated
Red chilli powder (lal mirch powder) 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder (haldi) ½ tsp
Cumin seeds (jeera) ½ tsp
Mustard seeds (rai) ½ tsp
Curry leaves 2 sprigs
Asafetida (heeng) 2 pinch
Bengal gram (chana dal) 1 tsp
Black gram (urad dal) 1tsp
Sugar ½ tsp
Coriander leaves (dhania leaves) 1 bunch, finely chopped
Salt to taste
Oil for cooking

Method

Coarsely but dry grind the chapatti in a mixer and transfer it in a bowl. Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds (jeera), mustard seeds (rai), asafetida (heeng) and curry leaves, let it sputter. Add bengal gram (chana dal), black gram (urad dal) and turmeric powder (haldi), sauté for 1 minute. Add onions and fry till it turns transparent. Add the ground chapatti to it and mix well. Add salt to taste, red chilli powder (lal mirch powder) and cook till the chapattis are done. Finally sprinkle sugar and grated carrot and mix one more time. Garnish with coriander leaves (dhania leaves) and serve hot.
