Ugadi Pacchadi

Ugadi Pacchadi is prepared on the commencement of Telugu New Year. It is basically a Prasad or offering to lord that is eaten as the first thing on the Ugadi Day.

Ingredients
Neem flower 2 tsp
Jaggery (gud) 4 tsp, grated
Tamarind (imli) 3 tsp
Red chilli powder (lal mirch powder) 1 pinch
Mustard seeds (rai) ¼ tsp
Salt to taste
Refined oil 1 tsp
Raw mango, 1 tbsp, finely chopped
Water 1 ¼ cup
Method
Soak tamarind (imli) in water for ½ an hr. bring the water to boil and keep it aside for cooling. Once cooled blend it in mixie, till smooth, strain it. Add cut mango pieces to this juice and jaggery (gud), heat the mixture and bring it to boil.
Remove from heat. In small pan heat oil, add mustard seeds (rai), once it sputters add neem flower and fry till light brown. Add red chilli powder (lal mirch powder) and salt; mix it with tamarind juice mixture. Serve in small quantities.
